A hardworking reporter is out to find a city destroying arsonist in Night Alarm. Hal Ashby (Bruce Cabot) is a nice-guy journalist out to solve the biggest mystery in town: who is starting all these dangerous fires? Ashby suspects a big money industrialist, who uses his shady political contacts to get Ashby fired for accusing him. Down on his luck, Ashby ends up falling in love with a woman who turns out to be the industry tycoon's daughter! The fires keep springing up, and Ashby gets caught in the smoke and mayhem.
